Containing group: Cambarus (Puncticambarus)

Types

Syntype, Academy of Natural Sciences of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania 328 (male II); others probably destroyed in the Chicago fire, 1871 (Faxon, 1914:423).

Type Locality

Humber River, near Toronto, Canada.

Range

Ontario and New York, to Illinois, and southward to Tennessee, North Carolina, and Virginia. Its presence in New England east of the Hudson River basin is believed to have resulted from introductions (Douglas G. Smith, in litt.).

Habitat

Streams.

Distribution

Currently stable.
