Types

Syntypes, Academy of Natural Sciences of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania 316 (male II), Museum of Comparative Zoology, Harvard University, Cambridge, Massachusetts 172 (2 male I, 4 female, 2 juv. male, 3 juv. female), Museum of Comparative Zoology, Harvard University, Cambridge, Massachusetts 3376 (male I), National Museum of Natural History, Smithsonian Institution, Washington D.C. 4962 (specimens decayed), Museum National d'Histoire Naturelle, Paris, France (male I, female).

Type Locality

Athens, Clarke County, Georgia.

Range

From the upper Savannah Basin southward to the St. Marys and Suwannee river systems in Florida and westward to the Alabama-Mobile River basin.

Habitat

Streams.

Conservation Status

Currently stable; species complex currently under taxonomic investigation.
