HTML Button What the button does to text, images etc. Why you might want to use this style of formatting.
Bold text style.

Make text bold to accentuate it. For example:

  • These small barnacles (Chthamalus anisopoma) are found living on the smooth surface of basalt rocks in zone two.
Italic text style.

Make text italic to indicate that it is a title of a book or other print resource. For example:

  • The Other Way to Listen (1997). Baylor, Bird; Peter Parnall (Illustrator)

You can also italicize text to make it more noticeable. For example:

  • The new seedlings must be kept moist at all times.
Underline text style.

Underlining text is another way to make it more noticeable, however on web pages people might be confused and think that the text is a link to another page.

Strikethrough text style. Use the strikethrough style if you are editing a partners or a students work and you want to indicate that you think a particular section should be removed. Strikethrough style text isn't appropriate for work that will be published.
