IntroductionA rare species endemic to the Mentawi Islands (southwest of Sumatra) (Yata et al. 2010).
Geographical races/subspeciesYata et al. (2010) list two subspecies:
- mata mata (Kheil, 1884) Nias
- mata caeca Corbet, 1941 Sipora
