Introduction

This species occurs along the eastern slopes of the Andes from southern Ecuador to Bolivia. It was long considered a southern form of D. dinias but was raised to specific status by Pyrcz (2004).

Characteristics

May be distinguished from D. dinias by the more distal position of the orange forewing patch, and from D. fraudata by the larger size of the orange forewing patch.
